God isn't silent about Himself. He revealed Himself in His Word (the Bible).

1. God is (1 John 1:5)

God is the source of wisdom, holy living, and inner peace.

2. God is three persons in One (called the Trinity) and these three persons are equal in power and character. How are they named in 1 John 5:7? (See also Matthew 28:19.)
1.
2.
3.

3. According to 1 John 4:6-8 . . .

We are

Love is from

God is

The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call Him Immanuel—which means "God with us" (Matt. 1:23).

God also revealed Himself through the person
of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

God created us and provides for our acceptance and nurture. He not only revealed Himself to us in the Bible, He also came in the flesh and lived among us. (See John 1:14.)

4. Why did the Lord Jesus Christ come to this world? (1 John 3:5, 8)

To take away

To destroy

Who is the Devil?
The Devil was an angel created by God, who led a rebellion in the heavens before the world's creation. He and his followers were cast out of heaven and now inhabit a spirit world where they are committed to destroying God's plans and His people (See John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8.)

5. How do we know that Christ lives in us? (1 John 3:24)

Who is the Holy Spirit?
When the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven after His death and resurrection, He sent the Holy Spirit (the third Person of the Trinity, equal with God the Father and God the Son, Jesus) to live within His followers.

The Holy Spirit . . .

  • Gives a sense of remorse when we disobey God's law
  • Gives us inner assurance of our acceptance by God
  • Gives us understanding of the truths of the Bible
  • Gives us spiritual strength for holy living

6. How do we respond to the inner work of the Holy Spirit? (1 John 3:24)

7. Obedience to God's will even affects our praying: (1 John 3:22)
    True  False

In what areas of our life should we seek to obey God?
